Evaluation of a Shoulder Injury Prevention Program for Overhead Wheelchair Athletes
Antoinette Domingo, PT, PhD, Associate Professor at San Diego State University, and her colleagues are conducting a research study to get your opinion on educational videos describing an evidence-based shoulder injury prevention program for athletes who play overhead wheelchair sports, such as wheelchair tennis and wheelchair basketball.
You are being asked to complete this survey because you are an athlete who plays an adapted sport and/or you are a coach, clinician, or other individual that works with athletes who play adapted sports.
You must be at least 18 years old to take this survey.
Participation is voluntary. Your decision to participate or not will not impact your standing or relationship with San Diego State University. The survey will take approximately 15 minutes total to complete (about 10 minutes of this time is watching videos describing our injury prevention program). This survey includes questions that ask you to provide information about what sports you play and/or have knowledge about, your opinions about and current practices for injury prevention, and your thoughts about the educational videos. The survey also includes questions about your age and sex. The benefits of this study include that your participation could potentially help others by allowing us to understand how to prevent injuries in people who play adapted sports, thereby improving their participation and health.
We ask that you try to answer all questions. However, you may refuse to answer any question or stop participating all together. Your answers will be submitted anonymously – that is, recorded without any identifying information that is linked to you.
After completing the survey, you can enter a drawing to win 1 of 6 Amazon gift cards, valued at $25 each. The first 100 entries on or before February 1, 2023 will be entered into the drawing, which will occur on February 14, 2023. The winner will be notified by email. The chances of being awarded a prize is roughly 1 in 16 participants.
If you do not want to participate in the survey or are ineligible to, you can enter the drawing on or before February 1, 2023 by sending a letter to: Shoulder Injury Prevention Survey Drawing, ATTN: Antoinette Domingo, 5500 Campanile Drive, San Diego, CA 92182-7251. Please indicate in the letter your name and email address. Anyone can enter.
The only identifying information we will collect is your name and email address in order to distribute the gift card if you win, and this information will be destroyed once the winner has been chosen and the gift cards have been distributed. This information will be collected on a separate form that is not connected to your survey answers.
